I know for me, that at times I need a little pick me up, usually around 2 p.m., about an hour after lunch when the food is settling into my stomach. During these times, the thought of a little nap runs through my mind, at the same time that unemployment does a face palm across my forehead. So what can I do to get some more energy? The easy solution is to go to the nearest food mart and grab one of those quick pick-me-ups in a can type of thing. The kind of drink that goes down cold, has enough sugar to kill a polar bear, and gives me instant energy, for a while. The downside to these drinks is that they are great tasting, but don’t last very long, and the slippery slope you just walked on becomes a landslide of exhaustion about an hour after drinking them.
So, to still be active and carry on with my day, I have found that if I am going to take an energy supplement during the course of my day, it is going to have to have zero sugar, be all natural in its ingredients, and does not make me feel worse than when I drank it. It also cannot have ingredients on the side of the can that I have to use a search engine to find out what they really are, and what they are not.
For after workouts in the morning, I go with a high energy creatine snack. This kind of energy is the good kind, with the added benefits of reducing sore muscles, while providing adequate energy to fight the after-gym lactic acid effect.
For during the day, at the after lunch drowsiness time period, I like to go with a high Vitamin B supplement drink mix, that is all natural, has a ton of naturally occurring vitamins, and will not cause a massive crash at the end of the burst.
